THE 9th CAREER DAY NEUROSCIENCE 2024

Helen Heinermann

Helen studied hearing technology and audiology (B.Eng.) at the Jade University of Applied Sciences in Oldenburg. This study program was all about sound and hearing. After her bachelor's degree, she was eager to learn more about the role of the brain in hearing and therefore decided to study neuroscience at Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg. During her master’s studies she focused on computational models of hearing in normal-hearing and hearing-impaired humans. In her master's thesis with Mathias Dietz and Go Ashida she applied computational models of the auditory system to data she collected from human subjects.
After graduating with her master's degree in summer 2020, Helen wanted to be involved in the development of a product that would directly benefit hearing-impaired people. Therefore, she applied at Vibrosonic GmbH, Mannheim. Vibrosonic GmbH is a start-up that develops innovative hearing solutions with the hearing contact lens® as their core technological component. At Vibrosonic, Helen has been working in the Research & Development department in Clinical Affairs since December 2020. Here, she designs, conducts, and analyses studies and test activities with hearing-impaired subjects with Vibrosonic hearing systems.
